Wow, a whopping 2 minute video. This "reaching the hearts of little ones" seems to be fading really fast. WT is no competition for PBS.

Not the most gripping plot in Caleb's latest adventure...
by cedars inhttp://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/children/become-jehovahs-friend/videos/stealing-is-bad/.
caleb sees some brightly-colored lollies.. caleb's mom tells him they're not buying candy today.. caleb puts down the lollies, sulking.. caleb thinks about stealing just one lolly, but remembers his dad's words at family study, that if he steals he won't be jehovah's friend.. caleb puts back the lolly smiling, and runs along.. .
hardly a gripping plot.

THIS NEEDS ITS OWN THREAD:: TODAY's WT Paragraph 16
by Lied2NoMore inhere is what got my spidey senses tingling: paragraph 16, reference to daniel p mannix book, was wondering if his statement was mis-quoted so i did my research.......but was even more shocked when i saw this: .
from amazon dot com reviews................ probably the most provocative work of historical fiction published this century,"those who are about to die" is pure mannix at his best.
a uncensured exploration of what likely took place in the circuses of ancient rome.

Judging by the quotes from suavojr, compared to Ancient Rome, we are living in an era of peace and calm. JWs sure aren't worried about getting thrown to the lions. All the WT nonsense about these being terrible last days, clearly haven't read history. Sadly, there are people today that are going hungry, but the greater health problem today is resulting from obesity, not famine.

Awake February 2013: Where do they find these people?

by evolution or by creation?

"To better clarify, the meaning of the term "life" in the statement "life originated by means of evolutions", is the differentiation of life as we can appreciate it now, with the complexity of organisms living in our planet."
If he says that evolution could produce the complexity of species living today, he is begging to be challenged about his belief in a literal Noachian flood. It would be interesting to find out how he explains that the complexities of every species living today had to fit inside a floating box... or evolve from a very few pairs of animals just a few thousand years ago. There is certainly no fossil evidence to support the notion that Asian and African elephants descended from a single species just a few thousand years ago in Turkey. Quite the contrary, fossil evidence shows that animals have been going extinct through recent millenia. And certainly there is no evidence that kangaroos ever lived outside Australia or descended from any "family" of animals from Turkey 4000 years ago.
When it comes to faith, belief, and religion, he only thinks inside WT lines. Otherwise he would have already realized that Genesis requires that he believe in a more radical and recent evolution that any atheist would propose.

From Blondie's comments:
16, 17. Some early followers of Christ faced
what test of faith, and how does this compare
with the experience of certain Christians in our
day?
16 Like Jesus, early Christians courageously rendered worship only to Jehovah. (Matt. 4:8-10) They refused to burn incense in honor of the Roman emperor. (See picture.) “Very few of the Christians recanted,” wrote Daniel P. Mannix, “although an altar with a fire burning on it was generally kept in the arena for their convenience. All a prisoner had to do was scatter a pinch of incense on the flame and he was given a Certificate of Sacrifice and turned free. It was also carefully explained to him that he was not worshiping the emperor; merely acknowledging the divine character of the emperor as head of the Roman state. Still, almost no Christians availed themselves of the chance to escape.”—Those About to Die.
WT is a work of fiction, so why not quote from a work of fiction as if it were fact. Certainly, many early Christians died as martyrs, but WT would have considered them apostates anyway. Modern WT is intolerant of dissent not unlike ancient Rome.

A question about lying and the Jehovah's Witnesses

"All else - ....I will point my finger at former JW's and opposers of JW's. I will ask pointed questions about you. I will ask you for your beliefs since you "left" the "Watchtower"."
Sounds like you're getting ready for an ad hominem attack. You must really have enjoyed learning that stunt from the JWs. You can't defend their terrible history of "untruths" so you are clinging to the hope that someone will express something that you can attack. That's sad. You start the thread by insisting that JWs don't lie, then instead of defending your claim, you divert the thread into personal attacks on those of us that expose their lies. You should be ashamed of yourself.
My beliefs since leaving the WT? I believe that a religious organization that claims to represent God, but whose prophecies prove to be false, are LIARS! Evidently, you don't agree. But the Bible did express that there would be people like you that love lies.

"Why do opposers and apostates to Jehovah's Witnesses like to twist their teaching in regards to lying and claim that Jehovah's Witnesses lie through their teeth because they are allowed to because of something called "theocratic warfare"? The teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses are plain with the links above."
The teachings of JWs are clearly exposed in all of their older publications. For example:
***km10/93 p.8 Using Our Magazines From House to House***
The purpose of Awake! is stated clearly on page 4 of each issue: "This magazine builds confidence in the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away." Certainly such a magazine deserves as wide a distribution as possible in our house-to-house ministry!WTBTS stated the Creator promised armageddon before the generation that saw the events of 1914 pass away. That was more than an "untruth", it was A LIE! They made false claims and false prophecies. WT doesn't need the verbage of "theocratic warfare" to cover their history of lying. The teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses are filled with lies throughout the history of their publications. Why do you think they condemn "critical thinking"? Obviously because their teachings and history cannot stand up to any scrutiny. Consequently, they have to rely on a lot of smoke and mirrors to trick the sheeple into thinking that the WT dispensed lies have been for their good. See the January WT of this year for their worst example of excusing their lies as being "a good thing".
JWs don't just lie because of the excuse of "theocratic warfare." JWs are trained to lie because their lies aren't "really lies", their "untruths" are supposed to be a good thing. But lies are lies. Even the Bible Teach book had to admit that. They are condemned by their own curiously self-contradicting words.

NE: JWs watch that stuff with zero attention. It's like asking them an hour after the meeting what the WT was about. All you get is a blank stare. I think the JW method of study has made returning to school more challenging for me. At the KH I'd learned how to pay 100% attention, but effectively purge my memory at the end of every meeting.

Anyone noticed a curiosity on the Memorial Invitation for 2013 ?
by EdenOne ini can't scan the memorial invitation for 2013, but i was looking at it today and noticed something curious on the front drawing.. we have jesus as the central figure of the composition.
to his right and bottom, a large crown, in colour, of shiny happy people of diverse origins.. separated from this by the figure of jesus, is another group, a much smaller one, on the left and as if ascending to the top, and grayed.. clearly portrayed in this group is the face of ct russell and apparently william tyndale.
but then, also sarah and abraham and other personalities of the ot seem to be represented there.

I'm glad to see that Captain Janeway made the cut. Evidently both past and future generations are in the smokey-gray group over Jesus' shoulder.

Losch and Morris are the nuttiest.
In my experience, I'd rank Lett as the worst. This one's for you, Lett:
